Strategic business planing and implementation at Gardner Group Ltd

Gardner Aerospace manufactures machined and fabricated parts for the aerospace industry. Activities include 5-axis machining, turning, sheet metal fabrication, non-destructive testing, surface treatments, final assembly and kitting.

The primary goal was to develop self-sustaining implementation and coaching capabilities in a member of the management team designated as the Change Agent. See the case study for details on this was achieved.

Problem solving at Gardner Group Ltd

Gardner Aerospace manufactures machined and fabricated parts for the aerospace industry. Activities include 5-axis machining, turning, sheet metal fabrication, non-destructive testing, surface treatments, final assembly and kitting.

The primary goal was to establish a simple process that the management team and the workforce could use to jointly establish root cause problem solving on a routine basis. The intervention consisted of three steps, please see the case study for details.

Knowledge transfer at Hycrome (Europe) Ltd

Hycrome Europe, part of the Score Group, are engineering specialists for machining, grinding, coatings and surface treatments primarily working in the aerospace and petrochemical industry sectors. They specialise in turbine blade manufacture and repair for aero-engines and pumping systems.

The primary goal was to establish  capability  to convert common and standard activities within the individual works orders into simple visual standards reducing the size and complexity of works order documentation. Please view the case study for more information.

STRIVE launch press release

Northwest based organisations, Northwest Automotive Alliance (NAA), Bentley Motors Ltd, Virtual Engineering Centre (University of Liverpool), Optis SAS, Icona Solutions Ltd and DNA-Agile Group Ltd have been awarded funding of £1.95million from the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) to create a new ‘digital’ supply chain for the UK automotive sector.  

The aim of the three year  “Simulation Tools for Rapid Innovation in Vehicle Engineering” (STRIVE) project, is to facilitate a ‘step change’ in UK automotive manufacturing, enhancing product design to support improvements in manufacturing productivity whilst retaining(and improving) build quality.
