AeroDNA Ltd have been announced as one of 19 SMEs in the North West of England to win a share of £1.6 million in funding for innovative manufacturing. The Materials and Manufacturing Launchpad is run by the UK’s innovation agency, the Technology Strategy Board, in partnership with the Science and Technology Facilities Council as its cluster champion.

Northwest based organisations, Northwest Automotive Alliance (NAA), Bentley Motors Ltd, Virtual Engineering Centre (University of Liverpool), Optis SAS, Icona Solutions Ltd and DNA-Agile Group Ltd have been awarded funding of £1.95million from the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) to create a new ‘digital’ supply chain for the UK automotive sector.  In collaboration with Finance Birmingham, Programme Managers of the AMSCI initiative, this ground-breaking development project will lead to improvements in manufacturing productivity through the introduction of innovative new manufacturing planning processes.

The aim of the three year  “Simulation Tools for Rapid Innovation in Vehicle Engineering” (STRIVE) project, is to facilitate a ‘step change’ in UK automotive manufacturing, enhancing product design to support improvements in manufacturing productivity whilst retaining (and improving) build quality.

DNAagile has signed an MOU with Manitoba Aerospace Human Resource Council (MAHRC) to support the development of the aerospace supply chain in Manitoba and other regions in Canada. We are working closely with the MAHRC team to develop the skills, processes, infrastructure and systems to develop a sustainable and growing supply chain in the region.

DNAagile Group companies Redthorn, Aventa, AeroDNA and DNA Coders have secured 4 government funded projects to carry out feasibility studies in advanced manufacturing supply chain collaboration.

The funding awards follow the conclusion of the ‘Innovation in Manufacturing Competences’ competition for feasibility funding, which sought proposals for short-term feasibility studies across the whole manufacturing lifecycle, from design and engineering through to process development, manufacture, service delivery and re-manufacture/re-use, including innovation in supply/distribution chains, risk management and business models

DNAagile is developing innovate solutions focused on the following four areas on innovation:

  • - providing upstream and downstream supply chain performance visibility
  • - best practice collaborative new production introduction processes
  • - multi-tier supply chain planning and optimisation

DNA-agile and University of Liverpool have been awarded a £1.9m project over 3 years to support North West England advanced manufacturing companies to improve operational performance and supply chain collaboration.

The Collaborate to Innovate (C2i) project is focused on improving the competitiveness of 64 companies working in advanced manufacturing supply chains with clear targets to create and safeguard jobs.

The primary activities associated with C2i will be to provide eligible NW SMEs with the mentoring and organisational support to engage in collaborative alliances and the technical support to develop collaborative ICT platforms. Specific SME applications will concern:

NDT specialist – Halo Laboratories based in Morecambe UK – have acquired the AeroDNA ERP system to streamline their OEM Design, NADCAP and AS9100 quality compliance and provide total visibility of business performance.

AeroDNA has been contracted by Ravilla Precision Engineering based in Coimbatore, India, to scale up their operations and become a $10m business within 3 years. AeroDNA will identify suitable joint venture companies based in US and Europe to provide technology transfer and rapid access to market.

King & Fowler UK has recently installed the AeroDNA ERP system to streamline the NADCAP paperwork process whilst optimising customer service and resource utilisation.

King & Fowler was formed in 1887 and has a strong tradition in the aerospace industry. However many of the internal and external processes were very manual relying on the efforts of people rather than best practice processes.

AeroDNA has streamlined the AS9100/NADCAP paperwork and consolidated the vast range of customer quality approvals using the DNA Code i.e. rather than having multiple customer specifications to work on (such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce, Bombardier and GE), the DNA Code generates an internal specification that meet the requirements of multiple customers for a given process.

AeroDNA has been contracted by Amtek Auto Components based in Delhi to support their aggressive plans to become a world class global Aerospace company. Building on their current revenues of $1.4billion and 48 global locations, Amtek will develop a $150m business within 4 years focusing on complex components and sub-assemblies for aero engines, actuators and landing gears, underpinned by their core competence of castings, forgings and machining.

AeroDNA will use its expansive global network of manufacturing partners to support Amtek deliver its strategy through acquisitions, joint ventures, technology transfer partnerships and strategic alliances.

North Wales Aeroforms has achieved ISO 9001 AS9100 rev c accreditation for its machining and treatments facility following the recent installation of AeroDNA.

The AeroDNA paperwork and workflow has been designed to meet the stringent requirements of AS9100 rev c. Following a swift installation of the AeroDNA system, North Wales Aeroforms had confidence that they were complying with AS9100 and that there processes were sustainable and scalable.

Ambitious start-up company North Wales Aeroforms based in Queensferry next to the Airbus Broughton facility has installed AeroDNA into its machining and treatments facility.

AeroDNA has provided robust business processes from quotation, sales order processing, purchasing, production, subcontract, despatch through to invoice.
